With another eventful year coming to a close. this contemporary art exhibition will offer visitors a chance to reflect upon themselves.

Exhibition planning agency LEESANG ART Co. (director Lee Sang-mi) will be holding the exhibition Be Yourself from Dec. 18 (Wed) to Dec. 27 (Fri).

The exhibition will feature a total of ten contemporary works of art, including paintings, sculptures and installations by the two artists, Kim Young-jin and Park Jung-woo.

‘Be Yourself’ means ‘acting naturally.’ People today form relationships in society, oftentimes withholding their true nature. ‘Be Yourself’ presents people with the idea ‘just be yourself rather than following or imitating others.'  Artist Kim Young-jin will present a total of five paintings on canvas, including a serial work of three paintings ‘Flower of Dowon’ (2019) and a serial work of two paintings "Free Resuscitation" (2019). The artist works with materials that reflect within the canvas in order to encourage viewers to reflect upon the causality of the object that shines tangibly through moonlight. Through his artworks, the artist encourages us to think not so much about the importance of the medium, but rather the artist’s attitude, or aestheticism, which ought to be studied ceaselessly as it is essential in these modern times.

Artist Park Jung-woo will display a total of five artworks, including one work from the sculpture installation "Expiration in Old Age" (2019), two works from the series work "Salted Savings" (2019), and two works from the series "Hadaly" (2017). 
Through images associated with the meaning and the role of art, the artist creates a process of reasoning and continues to work with the mindset of appealing to his audience.

Lee Sang-mi, director of LEESANG ART Co. commented, "This is the last exhibition prepared with just a few days until the end of December and this year," adding, "You can feel and experience a lot more if you come to LEESANG ART and see with your own eyes."

다사다난했던 한 해가 마무리되고 있는 가운데 자신을 되돌아볼 수 있는 현대미술 전시가 열린다.

전시기획사 이상아트(관장 이상미)는 Be yourself展을 12월 18일(수)부터 27일(금)까지 개최한다.

이번 전시회는 김영진, 박정우 등 2명의 작가가 회화와 조각, 설치 등 총 10점의 현대미술 작품을 전시한다.

‘Be yourself’는 ‘자연스럽게 행동하다’라는 뜻이다. 현대인들은 사회 속에서 관계를 맺으며, 때로는 자기 본연의 모습을 감추고 살아간다. 이런 현대인들에게 ‘Be yourself’는 ‘남을 따라 하고 모방하기보다는 그저 자기 자신이 돼라’는 의미로 다가온다.

김영진 작가는 캔버스에 아크릴로 채색한 회화 ‘도원의 꽃’(2019) 연작 3점과 ‘자유소생도’(2019) 연작 2점 등 총 5점을 선보인다. 작가는 달에서 비쳐 오는 빛인 월광을 통해 가시적으로 빛나는 대상에 인과성을 생각할 수 있도록 화폭 안에서 반사되는 재료를 응용한 작업을 하고 있다. 그는 작품을 통해 어쩌면 매체의 중요성보다 작가의 태도 즉, 끊임없이 연구해야 하는 오늘날 우리 시대에 필요한 탐미주의를 생각하게 한다.

박정우 작가는 조각과 설치 작품인 ‘노년에 찾아온 만기’(2019) 1점과 ‘적금’(2019) 연작 2점, ‘hadaly’(2017) 연작 2점 등 총 5점을 전시한다. 작가는 미술의 의미와 역할이 무엇인지 연상되는 이미지를 통해 추론의 과정을 만들고 관객에게 어떻게 하면 매력적으로 보일지 생각하며 작업을 이어가고 있다. 그는 미술을 향유하는 대상을 의식적 사유에서 재미를 느끼거나 미술이 꼭 필요한 사람들로 보면서 작품 활동을 하고 있다.

이상미 이상아트 관장은 “12월 연말로 올해가 얼마 남지 않은 가운데 마련한 마지막 전시이다”라며 “이상아트에 직접 와서 눈으로 보면 더 많은 걸 느낄 수 있다”라고 전했다.
